"No one could make a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little."
Hi. My name is June and I write most of the content for Turning to Green.
I'm lucky enough to live in Devon, in the south-west of England. For over thirty years I lived in a little wooden house set in a large garden in woodland close to the beautiful River Dart.
Now retired, I recently moved to the city for the first time in my life, with quite mixed feelings. Thankfully I've found a house right beside a large park, and I've taken on an allotment, so I can still pretend that I'm living out in the countryside!
I have a Bsc(Hons) degree in Environmental Studies and used to work in the publishing industry, specialising in books on the environment and horticulture. A lifetime of organic gardening has given me lots of practical experience of what works or doesn't work, particularly when it comes to composting, and I'm passing some of that knowledge on to anyone who might find it useful.
I also write about environmental issues and try to present the facts in a clear and balanced way with suggestions for practical action to take. Massive changes are needed globally to even slow down the rate of global warming and climate change, and we all have a role to play. We need to make our own individual lifestyle changes, but we can also join together with others in movements such as Extinction Rebellion, we can sign petitions to make our voices heard, and we can support all those working for change.
This really is the most important issue of our time and every small action can help
